It SHOULD be a shell-firing gun, but there are times when they show it firing a big, sustained beam like the Wing or a Taurus. The show seems to not even be sure what the dober gun is. To be fair, Unicorn reintroduced Super Napalm when that ECOAS suit lit a Sleeves suit on fire with grenades. The gatling acts like it fires bullets pretty much always, including running out of ammo and making an audible clicking sound. I'm of the opinion that only the Heavyarms Kai has beam gatlings. I think on the whole the designs in Wing don't make as much sense/aren't as consistent as mobile suit designs from other series.ĭon't forget being melee-only while also being slower than everything but a basic Leo. Tallgeese is one of my favourite suits, but having a conventional firearm doesn't really make sense when the same suit employs the technology for a beam sabre.Įpyon has it's heat rod thing, but it also sports a beam sabre which can be adjusted in length and power. Do you also really need a flamethrower when you have the ability to project plasma? Shenlong has a flamethrower, which I guess makes some sense considering it was intended to be used on Earth, but it wouldn't work in space. Why does it drop spent casings? Also, why are the shield and the gun on same arm? Wouldn't it make more sense to be able to use the shield while shooting?
I don't understand how the beam gatling gun works on Heavy Arms. The super-heated weapon thing was Zeon's inferior version of the beam sabre. Sandrock has no shield and uses heat blades (sometimes) instead of a beam. In fact I think most of Gundams from Wing are kinda stupid. Scythes in general aren't very useful-they really on perform one task and they have to be used in a specific fashion to do that task. A scythe shape provides no benefit whatsoever when the blade made of super-heated plasma. It doesn't need the wings for thrusterless maneuvering.ĭeathscythe is also pretty ridiculous. Remember that time Heero was a stone-cold killer and was going to straight up murder Relena, but then there was a significant flashback to the time he killed a puppy as result of carrying out a terrorist action?

Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta were full of them. You're also right about a lack of heartwrenching moments in Wing. Armed organizations just kind of go around killing shit. Actually, in the world of Gundam Wing states don't really seem to exist. They just kinda go around blowing shit up. Come to think of it, aren't all the Gundam pilots basically terrorists? Their action aren't sanctioned by any kind of state. The solution to Zanc kingdom being attacked, and ultimately all warfare in EW is to have all violence conducted by extralegal means. There are also way too many episodes where they spend all their time talking about "absolute pacifism" while the Zanc kingdom is being attacked by mobile suits. I think you're right about Wing not know what it wants to be. If any of these policies are violated, moderators may have to call in a colony drop on your post/account.
